Best Apps for Homeschool: Part 3 of 4

I have two apps for you today. And the good news is they are both available for Apple and Android. If you are like us and like to go on nature hikes, you are going to want to take these apps along with you.

While hiking, we usually come across plants or animals that we are curious about. Of course, I don’t know every species out there especially when it comes to plants. Seek by iNaturalist is a great app for identifying plants and animals. All you have to do is take a picture of it, and it will identify the species for you.

Merlin Bird ID is another handy app to take out in nature. It uses the microphone in your phone to detect bird sounds. I love this app because I am often curious as to what birds I am hearing, and I have zero experience with detecting them myself. You can also look up certain birds and hear what they sound like. I like using this in my backyard as well while I’m relaxing on the patio, drinking my coffee.
