Nature Journaling Series: Combining Methods

This is the last entry in this nature journaling series. My favorite method of nature journaling is combining all the methods. In the nature journal below, you can see that I have the big picture, I have focused on one object (the butterfly), and I included a map right over the top of the scene. I also like to make a fancy title for the page. I just love the panoramic view at the top.

If you ever go to Gatlinburg, TN, I recommend driving around Cades Cove. It is absolutely beautiful. It is an old settlement nestled in a gorgeous valley encircled by mountains. You can see that the route is a big circle that runs along the base of the mountains.

I hope you have learned some new ways for you and your homeschoolers to nature journal. Take your journals on vacation with you and document your trip. Drawing what you see and writing a little bit about it will bring back memories when you look at it years later.
